Title: Theater on stage. The theatrical funds of the Valencian Library

Abstract: The theater on stage offers a tour of the theatrical funds kept in the Valencian Library, with special attention to the works and authors of the Valencian Community. A synthesis that begins in the strict origins of our theater, linked to the reconquest, with the mysteries and liturgical ceremonies; it passes through the palace theater around the court of the Dukes of Calabria in the 16th century, and reaches the Baroque era, with the comedies of Gaspar Aguilar, Francisco Tárrega and Guillén de Castro. In the eighteenth century dialogues and colloquiums marked the transition to the nineteenth century sainete, which was given the classical configuration by Eduardo Escalante, a writer whose personal archive is kept in the Valencian Library. The 20th century closes our itinerary, highlighting the purposes, the music magazine and the collections that spread throughout this theater, especially represented in the collection of Manuel Bas Carbonell, currently deposited in the Valencian Library
